Broad Street Recap
PRTC sent more than 20 runners to compete with 40,000 + at the Broad Street Run this past weekend. For many it marked the end of months of hard training. Fortunately the work paid off and much success was found.
Margaret Vido led a talented roster of PRTC women at this year’s Broad Street Run. She placed 4th overall with a very fast 56:56 and earned the coveted title of first Philadelphian. Margaret can now claim this honor for both of Philadelphia’s marquee races (Philly Marathon 2015 / Broad Street 2017). Margaret’s time was more than two minutes faster than her result last year. Her 2017 time would have been good for the overall win in 2016 by a slim margin. Sam Roecker joined Margaret on the winner’s podium with a 5th place overall finish in her Broad Street debut. Sam’s time equates favorably with her other top performances and earned her some air time on NBC-10 with Margaret post-race. Megan Bishop was 3rd in for PRTC and also claimed a spot in the top 10. Megan ran nearly 30 seconds faster than she did in 2016. Liz Novak achieved ten miles in less than an hour with her 15th place finish in 59:58. Chrissie Ramsey followed with her 17th place finish. She celebrated by planning to close on her first house the following day! Jamie earned 25th place despite taking a fall on her warm up on an uneven Philadelphia sidewalk (come on Philly!). Catherine Campbell followed with 36th coming in just before Liz Barrett’s 38th result. Ashton Hughes made her Broad Street debut and claimed a time well under 65 minutes. Zandra Walton doubled back after the Boston Marathon and placed just outside top 50. Lauren Eckberg placed slightly outside the top 100 and Dynise took 15 seconds off her previous best 10 mile time, good for a fourth place age group award!

Pat “Top Dog” McLaughlin led the way for PRTC’s mens team just 20 days after running the Boston Marathon. In fact, there may be something to be said about the Boston/Broad double as PRTC’s top three men all ran Boston and placed 25th or better at Broad Street. Paul Matuszak and Sean Clark battled it out with Pat up front landing 2nd and 3rd for PRTC respectively. Mike Vido lowered his 2016 Broad Street time by approximately 20 seconds. Chris Mateer made his Broad Street debut with a 54:18. We believe it was a 10 mile PR. Joe Binder followed up his fast Valley Forge result with a strong 54:24. Sean Pezzulo made his PRTC debut and improved upon his 2016 Broad Street result by a full 3 minutes. Lucas Bryant had an all-star weekend with the birth of his firstborn son Elias on Thursday and top 50 placing at Broad Street on Sunday! Kevin Brandon continued inching toward progress with a 55:10 finish, his best result of 2017. Breandan Lyman made a successful return to Philly’s premier race after a break in 2016 and Nabil Hashmi improved upon his 2016 time by just over 30 seconds.
