PRTC Weekly: 03/19/2017 Adrenaline Rushing to PR’s and More

Adrenaline Rushing to PR’s

Haddonfield, NJ
PRTC found success at 2017’s running of the Adrenaline 5k. Adrenaline features a reliably fast field and this year was no exception. Even so, the club logged many top ten finishes. Remarkably, at least 4 members scored personal records!
On the men’s side, Mike Vido earned USATF Grand-Prix points as the first PRTC male runner. He placed 19th overall with a time of 16:06. Mike’s working toward a strong Broad Street result and appears well positioned to achieve just that. Kevin Brandonwas next in with 16:24 in what was a significant step up over his Frostbite performance. He’s had much improved training and is already looking forward to the next race. Nabil Hashmi repeated his record of obtaining PR’s at Adrenaline and topped his 2016 performance by 9 seconds improving to 18:30. Alex Tozzo fought to a 19:04 finish. He aimed to PR, but we’re sure that’s coming soon given the dedicated training he is putting in.
Of the PRTC women in attendance, 6 members placed in the top 10 and all were top 20 performers. Margaret Vido edged Sam Roecker to take 1st overall and claim the title of USATF Mid-Atlantic 5k Champion (Adrenaline doubled as the association’s 5k championship). Margaret’s time of 16:43 marked a sizable PR. Sam, who paced the women’s lead group for much of the race, cruised in with a 16:48, good for 2nd overall. Margaret and Sam both earned a cash bonus for beating the surprise sub-17 incentive announced by the race director prior to the start. Notably, Sam and Margaret each crossed the line in front of Crystal Bacon (accomplished 2016 Broad Street winner) in a matchup that is sure to repeat again soon.
Jamie Morgenstern finished just shy (8 seconds!) of a PR with a very strong time of 17:33. She earned 4th place after making a move at mile 2 and holding off a late pushing challenger. Chrissie Ramsey followed Jamie to the line, crossing in 6th place. It was her first Adrenaline 5k and she enjoyed working with fellow PRTC teammates throughout the race. Chrissie recorded a time of 17:46 (and won her age group). Kylie Pearse also ran with this group and achieved a lifetime PR setting her new personal best at 17:48. Kylie placed 7th overall and won her age group.  Liz Novak was next in with 18:08 (a PR!) and good for 9th place. Ashton Hughes crossed the line in the low 19 minutes and earned a place among the top 20 finishers with her 19:09 time.

Catherine Campbell joined in on the fun and PR’d from afar with her performance at the Anthem Half Marathon (Virginia Beach) Jamie happened to be traveling in the area and stopped by to cheer on our teammate. Catherine reportedly faced torrential rain and wind conditions. Despite this, she placed fourth overall with her time of 1:21.44.
