In contrast to last weekend, things were pretty quiet for PRTC this week. That said, there is still much to discuss.
First up, for news, let’s congratulate Dynise Balcavage for securing her Level 1 USATF Coaching Certificate. To earn this designation, Dynise states she endured “22 classroom hours of lectures, demonstrations and discussions. After finally completing the 180-question exam and passing with flying colors, I got my official green light to start coaching.”
To celebrate, Dynise is hosting a contest in which she is giving away 8 free weeks of coaching. Her target athletes are master runners and people with specific race goals. Check out her page to enter or send a referral! And nice job, Coach!
Philadelphia Race Weekend Preview
At least 25 members of PRTC will be racing in one of three events this coming weekend. This is our last chance to score for the Mid-Atlantic
USATF Grand Prix and the highlight of the season for more than a few of us. Interesting storylines abound, from Paul’s first shot at a hometown marathon to Margaret’s attempt to match last year’s successful race.
Philly Race Weekend is under new management this year, and many are excited
about the changes. Increased prize money and the half marathon on Saturday are two of many new features for 2016. Competition is said to be up, but PRTC is positioned well to have some stellar results!
Bib pickup will be at the Expo. Hours are noon to 9 PM on Friday and 10 AM to 7 PM on Saturday. While you’re there, be sure to stop by the Philadelphia Runner booth. PRTC will be selling club t-shirts. If you’d like to help sell shirts at the expo, please let us know.
Half Marathon: 7:30
Rothman 8k: 10:45
Philadelphia Marathon: 7:00 AM
* Start / Finish for each race is Ben Franklin Parkway / Art Museum Area
