PRTC had an active (and wide-ranging!) race weekend. From the NYC marathon to a 4k XC meet, we have much to report! Let’s start with the longest event:
In the NYC Marathon, Samantha Roecker was the 8th American female to cross the line. Her time of 2:45:29, (6:19/mile pace!) earned her 19thoverall female. A very impressive race and accomplishment! It’s early, but a time like this is very much on target for entrance into certain US elite races. Way to go Sam!
Also at NYC from PRTC was Zandra Walton. Zandra placed in the top 100 women (82nd) and finished with a great time coming in just above 3 hours at 3:03:50. Congratulations Zandra!
Closer to home, the club put together a team for the USATF Grand Prix race, Norcross Run the Bridge. For this 10k race, our good friend Chris Naimoli from Bryn Mawr took 3rd overall with a time of 32:54. PRTC’s Bjorn Wastvedt was next in placing 9th overall with a time of 34:00, good for 3rdin his age group. Kinjal Parikh was 2nd overall female with her time of 37:23. Meghan Bishop and Lauren Kelly came in essentially together, good for 4th and 5th (respectively) both recording times of 37:47. Dynise Balcavage placed 2nd in her age group with a time of 44:40; meeting her goal of crossing the line in under 45 minutes.
Meanwhile, at USATF East Regionals XC Championships (8k at Belmont), Joe Binder and Kevin Brandon represented PRTC in what was essentially a dual meet between Garden State and Georgetown Running Club for title of East Regional Champion. Georgetown ultimately won the day (with support from PRTC training partner, Greg Olenginski (congrats Greg!). Joe (in the midst of some serious training for his place on the USATF 100k National Team (congrats Joe!), ran well. Official results from the race are not yet available, for which Kevin is thankful.
Lastly, back in New York, but over on Long Island, Kylie Pearse was busy taking on the Veteran’s Day XC 4k. Kylie ran 15:10 and placed 4th. Surely, this was great preparation for USATF XC Nationals which is rapidly approaching. Nice job Kylie!
