Philadelphia Track Club Fall Fundraiser Halloween Party

Sat., Oct. 30, 9pm. Free. Khyber, 56 S. Second St.

Brian Gallagher dreams big. How big? Olympic big. A few years ago the avid runner started the Philadelphia Track Club, a group of postcollegiate athletes looking to compete on the international level. So far, three of the club’s members have competed in Olympic trials, but travel to international competitions requires lots of money. So tonight Bryan Poerner (who first made a name for himself running Philly’s own Trackstar Records), along with Bombay to Brazil-er Chetana Borah, will DJ a Halloween costume party to benefit the club. It’s free to get in, and there’ll be plenty of running-related raffles, including free shoes from Puma and New Balance and goods from the soon-to-open Philadelphia Running store at 16th and Sansom. Says Poerner of the Track Club’s efforts: “We want to make this city proud. Seeing ‘PHILADELPHIA’ real big on the front of one of our uniforms in some running magazine just makes me giddy.” (Julie Gerstein)
